Greetings to one and all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in January 1871, but its beginnings go back several years beyond that. In 1865 a group of Lutheran Christians from Addison, Illinois, came to this community to establish new homes. Land could be bought much cheaper here than in Illinois, where their forefathers had settled when they emigrated from Germany. The original church site was built in 1871. In 1880, a new tower was constructed, new Gothic windows were installed, and also new seats. It was in the 1950's that it was decided to construct a new church. The last service was held in the old church on August 10, 1958, and within a week, the old building was razed. Ground breaking was held August 17th, and the cornerstone was laid October 26, 1958 with the dedication of the new church held on November 1, 1959.
